Nomi Tannhauser, born in 1956, lives and works in Jerusalem.

B.A. in Graphic design from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design 1982, and M.A. in Art Education, Leeds University Extension, 2001. She is an artist and curator, founder of Antea  Gallery for Women's art in Jerusalem, 1995. In her work she contends with anxieties concerning the body and making place in the world mainly from the feminine angle. Her work is figurative, using a variety of techniques including painting, drawing, print and plasticine. The use of color is rich, with unique  textures and techniques and it creates an experience of vibrant and stormy bodily and emotional situations. Through painting Tannhauser challenges body sensations and emotional anxieties, rebels against conventions and processes them into an aesthetic experience that is subversive and destabilizing on the one hand but humorous and comforting on the other.
